J.W. Greer Company, founded by Jesse Wade (J.W.) Greer in Cambridge MA, starts manufacturing some of the world’s first automated confectionary and bakery equipment. The company eventually grew to have over 650 employees.
J.W. Greer designs and begins building and selling an improved chocolate coating machine.
Fred Greer (son of J.W.) successfully designs a machine that could create perfect wire strands to be used in the chocolate coating machines.
During World War II, J.W. Greer Co. manufactures equipment for the armed forces. They are awarded the highly prestigious “Army-Navy ‘E’ Award” for excellence in war production, maintaining tight delivery schedules, attendance, and performance standards a total of four times.
The wire belt division of J.W. Greer Co. continues to grow and Wire Belt Co. of America (WBCA) is born.
WBCA moves from its original location in Cambridge to a new facility in Winchester, Mass.
Wire Belt Company Ltd (WBCL) was founded by the Greer family in Bromley, Kent, as a spin off from J W Greer Ltd, a long established confectionery machinery manufacturer headquartered in the UK.
Wade Greer (son of Fred) joins the company. He would later become President of WBCA after Fred Greer retires in 1973.
Current CEO, Dave Greer, starts working at WBCA.
Flat-Flex® XT®, a stronger version on the original Flat-Flex belt, is launched.
WBCA outgrows our facility in Winchester, Mass and moves to our current facility in Londonderry, New Hampshire.
Wire Belt Co Ltd in the UK is reunited with Wire Belt Company of America.
Wire Belt purchases Industrielle Drahtsverarbeitung Osterloh, GmbH. The Osterloh Company has a varied product range of metal conveyor belting and has a company history dating back over 130 years . As part of the Wire Belt Group, it is now called Wire Belt Company Osterloh GmbH.
WBCA launches CompactGrid™, a belt designed specifically for snack food products.
WBCA is recognized as one of Business NH Magazine's 'Best Small Companies to Work For'. We are later recognized in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 as well. We've won "#1 Small Company to Work For" three times; in 2009, 2013, and 2014.
WBCA wins the Lean & Green Award for their environmental practices. We win it again in 2011.
Keeping with green initiatives, WBCA installs a 100KW photo-voltaic solar array on the roof of the building. At the time of installation, it was the largest in NH.
WBCA launches our game-changing Versa-Link® belt, with advanced linking rods that can connect in less than 30 seconds.
WBCA opens our new addition and expands our space by 25%.
WBCA is named 'Manufacturing Business of the Year' by Business NH Magazine.
